SOUTH MECK SABRES 2011 SENIOR NIGHT
On April 13 against Ardrey Kell, we honored nine seniors who played
a vital role in the growth of South Meck lacrosse for "Senior Night." Here’s a look at their contributions
and future plans:
#21 JOSH BAILEY
The
son of Phil and Sarah Bailey, Josh is a captain, three-year starter and letterman for the Sabres at attack. He possesses the
hardest and fastest shot on the team and is always a threat to score when he has the ball. Next year he will be attending
East Carolina University, where he plans to major in business and play club lacrosse for the Pirates.

SILAS DAVIS
The
son of Beth and Garry Wallace and Terry and Paige Davis, Silas is a three-year letterman and one-year starter for the Sabres
on defense. He has improved as much as any player at South during his career. His senior season was cut short by an ACL tear
but not before he played a key role in the Sabres defeating Butler for the first time in five seasons earlier in the year.
Off the field, he has achieved Eagle Scout status and in considering UNCC, The Citadel and Randolph-Macon for his college
destination.
#2 PAUL JAHN
The son of Dennis and Cheryl Jahn, Paul is a three-year varsity letterman at middie for the Sabres. He is best known
for his talents as a faceoff specialist in lacrosse and has also played a year of soccer at South. His has been very active
in school clubs, being a member of the National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, Key Club and Interact. He
is also, by far, the best dancer on the team. Next year he will continue his education at UNCC or East Carolina.
#28 ALEX MEYER
The son of Joe and
Melissa Meyer, Alex is a four-year varsity player and three-year starter on defense, plus a two-time winner of the team’s
Most Improved Player award and a captain this year. He is one of the Sabres’ steadiest hands and a real thinker on the
field. A great student, he has a 4.3 GPA and will attend either UNC Wilmington or East Carolina next fall to major in marine
biology or biomedical engineering.
#28 HAMED OSMAN
The son of Wahida Osman, Hamid is first-year player who has made great strides this season as the Sabres’ top
reserve on defense. He is a physical player who has been a significant contributor to the South Meck football team as a linebacker
the last two years. He is most proud of having made the A-B Honor Roll in each of his four years at South. He will attend
either UNCC or South Carolina next year and major in business.
#9 TYLER MELVIN
The son of Dan and
D’Anne Melvin, Tyler is a first-year lacrosse player who has provided spark and energy to the Sabres’ midfield
line. He is a very athletic player who was a starting tight end for South’s varsity football team the past two years.
A great student with a 4.1 GPA, Tyler plans to attend N.C. State University next fall and major in engineering.
#12 CHRIS PESTA
The son of Dave and Joni
Pesta, Chris a member of a select club for the Sabres as a four-year varsity letterman. He plays middie and is the consummate
team player, always doing whatever the coaches ask with a smile on his face. Chris is also an outstanding student with a 4.2
GPA. He will continue his education at UNCC next fall to study mechanical engineering.

JORDAN SMITH
The
son of Scott and Becky Smith, Jordan is one of the rare four-year starters at attack in South Meck lacrosse history. He was
the Sabres’ MVP in 2010 and Offensive Player of the Year in 2009. Off the field, he has been an active member of Young
Life. Next fall, he will attend Appalachian State University, where he plans to major in broadcast journalism and play club
lacrosse for the Mountaineers. His career goals include being a broadcaster for a Major League Baseball team.
#1 GRAYSON
STRICKER
The
son of Craig and Donna Stricker, Grayson is a three-year starter and four-year letterman in goal for the Sabres and a former
MVP and captain. He has been a rock on defense for this team and holds the South Meck record for career saves. His is vice
president of the Japanese Club and a member of the Executive Council at South. He will continue his education next fall at
Appalachian State, where he plans to double major in International Business and Business Management and play club lacrosse.
