Former Catawba standout defenseman Tim Murphy took the reins of the South Meck
lacrosse program in September 2010, replacing former coach Justin Garrison, who is moving to Chicago. Murphy, who served as
the Sabres' defensive coordinator during the 2010 season, has been playing lacrosse for 20 years. Growing up in Rockville,
Maryland, he finished his high school career at Magruder High, where he earned multiple honors, including Rookie of the Year,
Defensive Player of the Year (twice) and MVP as a senior. Tim began his college lacrosse career at Division III power Widener
University in Chester, Pennsylvania, where he led the Pride to an undefeated conference campaign as a freshman. Murphy then
transferred to Division II Catawba College the following year, twice being named an Academic All-American in his three years
of playing at the Salisbury, N.C., school. Since graduating from Catawba, Tim has
continued to learn and improve his game traveling with the Charlotte Lacrosse Club. Playing in tournaments that stretch the
coast Tim finally took his experience to the coaching level with North Mecklenburg High in the spring of 2008 and took on
the defensive coordinator job at South Meck in 2009.
BRIAN FEEHAN/assistant coach
Brian Feehan began his lacrosse career at age 12. He played midfielder at North Rockland High School in Theills, N.Y.,
and went to Broome Community College, in Binghamton N.Y., on a hockey Scholarship. He transferred to Oswego State and focused
on school while playing club ice hockey and lacrosse there. Brian coached Division II girls’ lacrosse at Saint Thomas
Aquinas College in Orangeburg N.Y., until 2006 when he relocated to Charlotte. For the last four years, he was an assistant
coach at Butler.
