South boys turn in solid showing at Jamboree
Highlighted by a 5-2 opening-game win over Hopewell, the South Meck boys made their 2011 debut Saturday in the Charlotte
Lacrosse Jamboree at Country Day School. The Sabres took the field for three more games after the win over the Titans, losing
5-2 to Marvin Ridge, 6-4 to Hough and playing Cannon to a draw. Scoring multiple goals for South on the day were seniors
Josh Bailey and Jordan Smith and juniors Eli Morris and Steven Mortensen. Getting on the scoreboard for the first time in
their Sabre careers were sophomore transfer Matt Ludwick and freshman Chase Scott. Senior goaltender Grayson Stricker had
his usual solid performance in the nets, playing every minute of all four games. The Sabres open the regular season
Wednesday at rival Ardrey Kell. Game time is 7 p.m. at the Knights' football stadium.

Lady Sabres' Playday is Saturday at Elon Park
The South Meck girls lacrosse team will participate
in a High School Playday Saturday, Feb. 26 at Elon Park. Come out and support the Lady Sabres as they take on Providence,
Lake Norman, Butler and South Charlotte beginning at 10 a.m. Coach Brenna Houghton is very excited about the team this year
and the PlayDay will provide parents and fans their first look at the 2011 edition of the Lady Sabres. Elon Park is located

South boys set for Country Day Jamboree
The South Meck boys will open their season Saturday, Feb. 26, by taking part in the 17th annual Charlotte Lacrosse Jamboree
at Country Day from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Sabres will play four 30-minute scrimmages on the Front Field against Hopewell
(8:30), Marvin Ridge (10:00), Hough (11:00) and Cannon (12:30). All players should show up an hour before the first game.
For parents, there will be a small admission fee, proceeds of which will go to the Duke Cancer Center.
