Sabre boys get first win vs. Mallard Creek
The South Meck boys lacrosse team won its first game of the season Wednesday night at home against Mallard Creek, 12-8, prompting
a lengthy on-field celebration at Fred Boger Stadium. Scoring goals for the Sabres were sophomore Jordan Smith (4), freshman
Eli Morris (3), sophomore Josh Bailey (2), junior Jarrett Cook (2) and senior Johnathan Parker. Sophomore Grayson Stricker
got his first win in goal, saving 15 shots. Defensemen Shea Fadel, Jay Beauchamp, Alex Meyer and Jesse Breaux took turns holding
down the Mallard Creek attack. The Sabres have a busy weekend of lacrosse ahead, traveling to play Hopewell on Friday
at Bailey Middle School (7 p.m.) and then hosting North Meck Saturday morning (11 a.m.) at the stadium.

Stricker continuing to impress in the net for Sabres
Sophomore goaltender Grayson Stricker, who's in his first year as a lacrosse netminder, continued his fine work Tuesday at
home in a 11-1 loss to Marvin Ridge, besting his season-high 16 saves March 28 against Butler with a school-record 25 stops
versus the Mavericks. The 6-foot redhead is quickly becoming one of the top goalies in Mecklenburg County.

Girls give Latin tough fight before dropping 12-7 decision
The South Meck girls played perhaps their best game of the season late Wednesday afternoon at Fred Boger Stadium, losing 12-7
to a very good Charlotte Latin team that improved its record to 3-3. Jackie Haenlein scored three goals to lead the Lady Sabres,
while Cherilyn Hallyburton added two and Rebecca Davis and Anneke Dikkers had one each. Mary Alice Creasy and Anne Louise
Seaton scored four goals apiece to lead Latin. South next plays Myers Park at home today at 5 p.m., leading off a doubleheader
that will also include the Sabre boys hosting state power Charlotte Catholic at 7 p.m.
