Saturday home game vs. North Meck postponed
The South Meck boys' home game Saturday against North Mecklenburg has been postponed due to the recent rain. The game has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 18, at South Meck Stadium with a tentative game time of 11 a.m. The boys' next game is Tuesday, March 31, at South against Marvin Ridge at 7 p.m.

Stricker saves 16 shots in boys' 10-4 loss at Butler
In front of one of the largest high school lacrosse crowds of the season, the homestanding Butler Bulldogs used a big third quarter to break open a close game and defeat the South Meck boys Monday night 10-4. The Sabres trailed 3-2 at the half, but couldn't overcome a third-quarter Butler surge. Freshman Eli Morris had two goals for the Sabres, while senior Johnathan Parker and junior Jarrett Cook added one apiece. Sophomore goaltender Grayson Stricker sparkled in the nets for South, keeping the Sabres close and making a season-high 16 saves.

Pig Bowl at Catholic tomorrow for boys and girls
The annual Pig Bowl classic will take place Saturday at Charlotte Catholic. Our friends at Charlotte Catholic are hosting this year and will provide barbecue and drinks for the players after each game. South's varsity boys play at 1:30 against Catholic, with the Sabre girls taking on the Cougars at 3:30.

Providence defeats Lady Sabres 19-6
The Providence Panthers beat the South Meck girls 19-6 late Wednesday afternoon at South's Fred Boger Stadium. Taylor Smith had five goals to lead Providence. The Lady Sabres were led by Laura Orland and Anneke Dikkers, who score two goals apiece. Kristen Reeder and Cherilyn Hallyburton also scored for South, which next plays at Charlotte Catholic (4 p.m.) in the annual SMHS/CCHS Pig Bowl Saturday. The girls game will follow the boys game, which begins at noon.

Boys game at Ardrey Kell moved up to 5 p.m.
Due to a women's soccer game that was rescheduled, the Sabre boys' March 17 game at Ardrey Kell has been moved up to 5 p.m. from the original time of 7 p.m. The game will now be played on the lower field instead of in the stadium. Players should arrive for warmups at 4:00.

Boys play Fort Mill at Gold Hill Middle School Wednesday
The South Meck boys will hit the road again Wednesday night at 7:00 to play the Fort Mill Yellow Jackets at Gold Hill Middle School Stadium. Gold Hill Middle School is located at 1025 Dave Gibson Blvd. in Fort Mill. From I-77, take Exit 85 and then go West on Highway 160 for approximately 1.9 miles. Turn left Dam Road. Travel approximately 0.2 miles. Turn left on Johnnytown Bridge. Travel approximately 0.5 miles. Stadium is behind the school.
Players should arrive for warmups at 6 p.m.

Hopewell nips South 15-13 in girls' home opener
Cherilyn Halliburton, Kristen Reeder and Anneke Dikkers all scored three goals for South Meck in losing a 15-13 decision to Hopewell in the Sabre girls' first home game of the season March 7. Laura Orland added two goals while Jackie Haenlein and Rebecca Davis each had one for the Lady Sabres, who next play at Providence Day Monday at 5:30 p.m.

Monday's boys game to be played at Weddington High
Monday's 7 p.m. game for the Sabre boys at Weddington will be played at Weddington High School. Players should arrive by 6 p.m.
Directions: From I-485 take the NC 16/Providence Rd Exit (Exit 57) toward Weddington (south). Travel 2.6 miles south on Providence Rd/NC 16 and then turn left on Weddington Rd. (NC 84). Then go 2 miles and Weddington High School will be on your left.

Boys road opener with Marvin Ridge today at 4:15
Today's season-opening game for the Sabre boys at Marvin Ridge has officially been changed to 4:15 and moved to Optimist Park in Weddington. It is a field turf field, but you should wear your cleats.  Players should be there at 3:15.
Directions: From I-485 take the NC 16/Providence Rd Exit (Exit 57) toward Weddington (south). Travel south on Providence Rd or NC 16 travel 2.6 miles and turn Left on Weddington Rd. (NC 84) travel 2.8 miles & pass Weddington High School on your left. Optimist Park is approximately 1 mile past Weddington HS is on your left hand side.

The South Meck boys' season opener at home against North Meck March 2 has been postponed due to the snow. The game will be made up Saturday, March 28, at 11 a.m. in South Meck Stadium.
