The South Meck lacrosse teams open up the 2008 regular season this week, with the girls hosting Ardrey Kell in South Meck Stadium at 5:30 on Friday, Feb. 29, and the boys traveling to Nation Ford High School to play Fort Mill Saturday, March 1, at 11 a.m. Check out the DIRECTIONS link at left for the best route to the boys' game.

The schedule for the South Meck boys' Feb. 23 Jamboree at Charlotte Country Day has been announced. The Sabres will play four mini-games (one quarter each) at Country Day's Blythe Field against Charlotte Latin (9 a.m.), Providence Day (10 a.m.), Weddington (11:30 a.m.) and Cannon School (noon). Players are asked to report to the field no later than 8 a.m. South is one of 15 teams participating. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Brain Tumor Center at Duke University, Crossnore School and the Rachel Giblin Scholarship Fund.
